Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - PRNThe Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - PRN delivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - PRN is also examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Advises patients about continuing care.Core Job FunctionsPerforms and documents complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories.Assists with the provision of care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.Facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.Core QualificationsEducation: Master's degree in relevant field requiredExperience: No previous experience requiredCertification and Licensing: Valid State of Florida APRN license requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.Department Specific FunctionParticipates in Patients Rounds with the Surgical Teams: Head and Neck, Surgical Oncology, Neurological surgery, Orthopaedic surgery, Cardiac surgery, Thoracic surgery, Urology.Completes history, perform physical examination, review medical records and laboratory reports, interprets diagnostic tests, formulate risk assessment, completes progress notes, and plan for surgery and/or post operative care in conjunction with supervising physician/anesthesiologist, and document in electronic medical record (Epic/UChart)Work as part of the interdisciplinary team to execute these daily plans, and acts as a liaison between Nursing and Surgical services to ensure proper follow-through on all patientsProvides education to nursing, patients & family on wound care / drain care or removal / tracheostomy tube care or change / feeding tube care/line care or change as part of the daily post operative care to facilitate transition to home care.Participates in the quality control program while providing continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and/or service.See consultations in the inpatient unit/Emergency room as needed to facilitate efficient care and disposition to reduce ED LOS.Collaborate with physician leaders by attending monthly data analytics/efficiency meetings to understand and facilitate institutional goals.Ensures continuous flow of communication with leadership of outpatient healthcare clinics to enhance quality of healthcare services to patients.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.
