Registered Nurse (RN) | Med/Surg / Telemetry
Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours

Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36
Shift Information: 7P-7A
Weekend Rotation: 6 shifts on a 6 week schedule (6 out of 12 shifts)
Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
Floating Requirements: all med surg / telemetry units

About Facility:

• Level 1 Trauma Designation
• Teaching Hospital

~ Unit Information:
2 years Med/Tele RN experience
~ Post-op surgeries
Co-morbidities common to med-surg population: diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, electrolytes imbalances

RN: 1:4-6

LPN: 1:4-6

CNA: 2-3 per shift
National certification- Medical-surgical certification or Nephrology nursing - preferred
Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital
IV insertion and care, central line management
Wound care and post op monitoring
Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams
Discharge planning and patient education, particularly on renal and fluid management
CNA: Duties: Yes - assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team); Receptionist/HUC: Unit secretary on unit 7a-11p; then house wide call secretary 11p-7a
Charge nurse – may have patients
Phlebotomy: Most units are lab collect phlebotomy; nurses drawn from CVLs
Resource Nurse: Yes, we have discharge nurses, resource team floats to all units
Hospitalist 24/7: yes
Intensivist 24/7: yes
Telemetry monitoring/tech: Central Telemetry Unit
Technology/Equipment:

EMR: EPIC

Unit specific equipment:
VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips Cardiac Telemetry monitoring
All adult med surg / telemetry units in house

Orientation (facility and unit):
~Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 (on a 6-week schedule)
Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after + 12/24 or 12/25 + 12/31 or 1/1
Shift times: 12-hour shifts 7A-7P or 7P-7A
Scrub Color: RN- Navy; LPN- Ceil Blue
