Description
The Underwriting Liaison will support the TPO client by coordinating and managing loan conditions, and act as the primary liaison and subject matter expert between underwriting and the TPO client. This role is critical in facilitating seamless workflow and minimizing delays. The ideal candidate will possess attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
To best serve our West Coast TPO clients and business partners, candidates must be available to work during Pacific Time business hours (8:00 AM–5:00 PM PT).
Responsibilities and Duties:
Act as the primary contact of the conditions submission and clearing process / review, and as the liaison and coordinator between the TPO client and Underwriting.
Proactively managing all condition related follow-up to ensure they are collected from the TPO client and submitted to underwriting.
Communicate effectively with TPO clients and team members to resolve issues or address questions related to loan documentation / conditions.
Provide underwriting guidelines and condition subject matter expertise to the TPO client.
Meet service level agreements (SLAs) for collection and submission of loan conditions.
Manage file organization, upload documents to systems, and maintain accurate records.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mortgage originations (e.g. loan processing, underwriting support).
- High Familiarity with mortgage loan guidelines, underwriting philosophy, and loan documentation.
- Non-Agency / non-QM experienced required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and loan origination systems.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively.
Key Competencies:
Communication Skills: Must have strong relationship management skills with strong customer service orientation. Must effectively interact with underwriters, TPO clients, and sales / operational team members to resolve issues and provide clear updates.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in reviewing and inputting loan documentation and maintaining data integrity throughout the underwriting process.
Organizational Skills: Managing multiple tasks, maintaining well-organized records, and ensuring timely submission of required documents.
Problem-Solving: Adapting to a fast-paced environment and addressing challenges or discrepancies in loan submissions.
Technical Proficiency: Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite and mortgage-related systems for efficient document management and data processing.
