CUTTING SPREADER

Setting up a large amount of material for spreading, while ensuring tension-free spreading and maximizing utilization.This position is part of the AbilityOne Program, which provides employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. AbilityOne is one of the largest sources of employment for people who are blind or have significant disabilities. Through nonprofit agencies (like ours), the program provides products and services, including janitorial and manufacturing services. The program also requires that 75% of the services provided be completed by individuals who meet the AbilityOne requirements (blind or have significant disabilities).Must be able to set up a lot of material for spreading, ensuring tension-free spreading, and maximizing utilizationSet down the marker and spread out the underlay paperMark splices, marking the beginning and end of the layRecord a roll ticket.Be able to review the fabric for defects as the lay is spread and inspect the cut as necessary.Must be able to identify and record the yards of defective fabric, by roll number, and provide the information to Quality Control.At least one (1) year of experience in a Cutting Room or similar job.Must have basic mathematical skills and be able to record and track information in records, handle rolls of fabric material, record information on cutting tickets, and yards used.Language Skills: Basic English communication skills are preferred but not required.Diversity - Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.Uses equipment and materials properly.Asks for and offers help when needed.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.Should be prepared to work in a noisy manufacturing area with heavy traffic and floor vibrations.
