Details Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting Cares for obstetric patients 20 weeks gestation including labor management, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, OB emergency/triage evaluations, and postpartum surgical patients such as tubal ligations Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Full-time, 13-week assignment Possibility of temp-to-perm conversion if department openings are available at contract end Requirements Active RN license in Texas or compact BLS certification required (AHA only) ACLS certification required (AHA only) NRP certification required Fetal monitoring certification required (AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC C-EFM) Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required BSN preferred Perinatal RN Residency or recent perinatal practice experience preferred Additional Information Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients Administers medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided Assesses learning needs and educates patients, families, and caregivers New hires are precepted by a trained staff member with completion of organizational and perinatal-specific competency validations Must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire Completion of all annual competency verification requirements required Previous CHRISTUS Health System employees must have a 6-month separation period before starting a new travel assignment Must reside within a 50-mile radius for local candidate consideration American Traveler Job ID P-740555.
