Postdoctoral Research Associate in Pharmacoepidemiology

Salary: A maximum of $65,000 is budgeted for this position. Final salary offer may be determined by qualifications, experience, grant funds, market benchmarks, and internal equity to ensure fair compensation.

Responsibilities
The fellow will work under the mentorship of Dr. Greta Bushnell, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Rutgers School of Public Health and core member of the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science (PETS). Responsibilities include:

Conducting NIH‑funded research in pharmacoepidemiology, mental health, and substance use.

Leading impactful research studies, developing independent research questions, and publishing in scientific journals.

Composing and submitting grant proposals with input from PETS and School of Public Health faculty.

Participating in conferences, publishing high‑quality journal papers, and teaching experience opportunities with PETS faculty.

Assisting in the creation of scientific protocols and statistical analysis plans for grant‑funded studies.

Conducting data analyses, interpreting results, and presenting conclusions.

Participating in PETS research meetings, journal clubs, and study progress meetings.

This two‑year position may extend based on funding availability and performance.

Qualifications

A doctorate degree in pharmacoepidemiology, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field.

Knowledge of pharmacoepidemiologic research methods and mental health‑focused research.

Experience with administrative claims data and programming skills in SAS or R.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and ability to present scientific findings and compose manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with excellent organizational, planning, project management, and problem‑solving skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Develop and support creation of scientific protocols and statistical analysis plans for grant‑funded studies.

Conduct data analyses, interpret, and present study results with appropriate conclusions and recommendations.

Participate in regular PETS research meetings, journal clubs, and study progress meetings.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include additional expertise and experience in advanced pharmacoepidemiologic methods, comparative effectiveness research, and clinical epidemiology.

The Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Science (PETS) facilitates innovative, multidisciplinary research on therapeutic use and outcomes in large populations. PETS brings together faculty and trainees across Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), providing access to national electronic health record and claims databases covering over 120 million lives. PETS faculty serve on FDA Advisory Committees, NIH study sections, National Academies committees, and various leadership roles in clinical and research organizations.
