Job Description We are hiring now for a Facilities Manager in Melbourne, FL!
SMTC is a mid-size provider of end-to-end electronics manufacturing services (EMS) including PCBA production, systems integration and comprehensive testing services, enclosure fabrication, as well as product design, sustaining engineering and supply chain management services. Summary: The Facilities Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility, building infrastructure, utilities, grounds, and production support equipment within a high-reliability electronics manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on working manager position responsible for leading the Facilities Department while actively participating in troubleshooting, maintenance, equipment repairs, facility improvements, and operational support to ensure business continuity and manufacturing readiness.
The Facilities Manager provides leadership for facility operations, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, contractor and vendor management, capital improvement projects, and maintenance planning. This role also provides leadership and oversight to the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) function through the direct supervision of the EHS Specialist, ensuring EHS programs are effectively supported, appropriately resourced, and aligned with regulatory requirements and company objectives, while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Human Resources to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace.
Lead the daily operation, maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of facility infrastructure, utilities, production support equipment, and grounds to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.
- Perform and oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance activities involving building systems, utilities, and manufacturing support equipment as required.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maximize equipment reliability, extend asset life, and minimize operational downtime.
- Manage and maintain facility systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air systems, plumbing, fire protection systems, emergency generators, building automation systems (BAS), dock equipment, and other critical infrastructure.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee facility improvement projects, equipment installations, infrastructure upgrades, and contractor activities while managing project schedules, budgets, vendor performance, and service quality.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the EHS Specialist to ensure environmental, health, and safety programs remain aligned with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Support the EHS Specialist in the successful execution of regulatory inspections, environmental compliance activities, contractor safety programs, emergency preparedness initiatives, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation by providing leadership, resources, and cross-functional coordination.
- Develop and manage departmental operating budgets, maintenance expenditures, contractor services, spare parts inventory, and capital improvement spending while identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, inspections, regulatory documentation, and vendor service records utilizing CMMS and other facility management systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, facility performance, energy efficiency, operational effectiveness, and customer support.
Lead by example through integrity, ethical decision-making, professionalism, and compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Communicate organizational priorities, departmental goals, and performance expectations while promoting employee engagement and collaboration.

- Manage departmental resources, budgets, staffing plans, and performance improvement activities.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to drive business performance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Facilities Operations Management: Ability to lead the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facility infrastructure, utilities, building systems, and maintenance activities that support manufacturing operations.
- Ability to develop, implement, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies that maximize equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and extend asset life.
- Building Systems & Infrastructure: Ability to oversee the maintenance, operation, and performance of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, compressed air, fire protection, building automation systems, and other critical facility infrastructure.
- Manufacturing Equipment Support: Ability to support the installation, maintenance, relocation, and reliability of manufacturing support equipment and facility systems that enable production operations.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Ability to develop and manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers while ensuring quality, safety, cost control, and timely project execution.
- Environmental, Health & Safety Oversight: Ability to provide leadership and oversight for the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) function by supporting regulatory compliance, promoting workplace safety, and guiding the successful execution of EHS programs through the EHS Specialist.
- Capital Project Management: Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee facility improvement projects, infrastructure upgrades, equipment installations, and capital investments while managing scope, budgets, schedules, and project outcomes.
- Ability to develop, manage, and monitor operating and capital budgets while identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency and optimize facility resources.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ability to ensure facility operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, industry standards, building codes, and company policies.
- Ability to identify and implement improvements that enhance facility performance, equipment reliability, operational efficiency, energy management, and overall business performance.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams to support operational objectives, facility initiatives, and organizational priorities.
- Ability to identify facility, infrastructure, and operational issues, analyze root causes, and implement practical, effective solutions that minimize business disruption.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Microsoft Office applications, building automation systems, maintenance technologies, and diagnostic tools to support facility operations and decision-making.
Associate's Degree in Facilities Management, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
Facilities Management Professional (FMP)
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive facilities, industrial maintenance, or manufacturing facilities experience within a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience managing facilities, maintenance, or technical personnel.
Hands-on experience maintaining industrial building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air systems, plumbing, fire protection systems, emergency generators, building automation systems (BAS), and production support equipment.
Experience developing and managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Experience managing contractors, vendors, service agreements, construction activities, and capital improvement projects.
Experience providing leadership oversight for Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) functions while partnering with EHS professionals to support regulatory compliance and workplace safety initiatives.
Experience developing and managing maintenance operating budgets and capital expenditures.
Experience supporting electronics manufacturing, aerospace, defense, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
Proficiency with CMMS software, Microsoft Office applications, and facility management software.
Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work, attending meetings, and reviewing reports.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting floor presence, observations, meetings, audits, and employee interactions.
- Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and related technology.
- Ability to move throughout office, production, warehouse, and customer environments as business needs require.
- Ability to occasionally bend, reach, and lift materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel as required by business needs.
- Ability to visually review documents, reports, presentations, production information, and computer displays with or without corrective lenses.

Work is performed in a professional, climate-controlled office setting with exposure to standard office noise levels and lighting. The role routinely uses typical office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and related peripherals. Duties may involve extended periods of sitting, sustained computer work, and regular interaction with internal staff. All employees are expected to comply with workplace policies, safety protocols, and organizational procedures.
Travel : 11-25% of the time based on business needs.
