University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Part‑Time Licensed Practical Nurse for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center located in Avenel, NJ. The primary purpose of the licensed practical nurse position is to skillfully administer total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include working with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in data collection related to patients’ status and needs.

Provide input to the registered nurse for incorporation into the plan of care by communicating pertinent information.

Deliver direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care.

Inform and instruct patients/significant others about the patient’s health/illness state and plan of care.

Assist patients/significant others in preparation for discharge and health maintenance in the home.

Document all aspects of patient care.

Qualifications

Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.

CPR certification.

Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Six or more months of experience in an acute hospital setting.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and assist in lifting/rotating patients weighing up to 50 pounds. The position requires a full onsite work arrangement.

Special Conditions
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections and adhere to all DOC requirements.

Salary
Grade 215, Non‑exempt, part‑time. Minimum salary $32,520; mid‑range $33,020; maximum $34,010.
