Licensed Practical Nurse PT Nights UCHC NSP University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), part of Rutgers, is seeking a Part‑time Licensed Practical Nurse for Northern State Prison in Newark, NJ. The role focuses on delivering total patient care within the correctional environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Posting Summary Key Duties Participates in data collection related to patient status and needs. Provides input to the Registered Nurse to inform the plan of care. Delivers direct patient care within scope of practice to implement the plan. Educates patients and significant others about health status and care plans. Assists patients and families with discharge planning and health maintenance at home. Documents all aspects of patient care. Qualifications Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New Jersey. Current CPR certification. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work sites. Preferred: at least 6 months experience in an acute hospital setting. Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be able to administer CPR for at least 10 minutes. Ability to lift and assist patients weighing up to 50 pounds. Night shift work and full onsite presence required. Must be approved by the Department of Corrections and comply with DOC requirements.
