Staff Nurse Per Diem UCHC NSP (Multiple Vacancies)

Staff Nurse Per Diem UCHC NSP (Multiple Vacancies) Rutgers University Correctional Healthcare is seeking a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey. The Staff Nurse will implement the nursing process in a correctional environment, providing ambulatory care and supporting inmate health. Responsibilities Work with healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional setting, following nursing protocols. Lead teams as assigned and function guided by nursing protocols. Assess and identify the health needs of adults and geriatric inmates, recognizing strengths and personal needs. Develop inmate‑centered goals and nursing objectives, implementing interventions and solutions. Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs within the correctional framework. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a New Jersey nursing license. Current CPR certification. Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation. Computer literacy. Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent preferred. Minimum of one year of experience in a correctional setting preferred. Benefits Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage.
