Licensed Practical Nurse Mental Health – Full Time (FT) – Eves UCHC NSP Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Full‑Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Northern State Prison located in Newark, NJ. In accordance with professional nursing standards, the LPN will administer total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families. Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LPN provides technical nursing care, performs treatments and procedures within established guidelines, and ensures a safe and therapeutic environment. Responsibilities Participate in data collection related to patient status and needs. Provide information to the Registered Nurse for incorporation into the plan of care, communicating pertinent patient status. Provide direct patient care within scope of practice to implement the plan of care. Inform and instruct patients or significant others on the patient’s health/illness state and plan of care. Assist patients or significant others in preparation for discharge and health maintenance at home. Document all aspects of patient care. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey. CPR certification (required). Valid driver’s license. Must possess a vehicle or alternative transportation for inter‑site travel. Preferred Qualifications At least six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting. Physical Demands and Work Environment The LPN must be able to perform CPR for at least ten (10) minutes and assist in lifting or rotating patients who are unable to ambulate, up to 50 pounds.
