Head of Operations & Business Management

This position supports operations at BGDC Distribution's new Schnucks Freezer facility in St. This is a newly added role to support continued company growth and expansion operations.
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the direction, coordination, and evaluation of product movement and customer service. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems by performing the duties through subordinate supervisors.
Ensure daily warehouse and distribution operations meet productivity, service, and performance expectations.
Support sales and business development initiatives as needed.
Monitor, document, and improve procedures and KPI performance related to product handling and customer service.
Partner with the General Manager to develop annual facility budgets.
Perform regular inspections to ensure compliance with food safety, OSHA, and company safety standards.
Monitor claims performance and ensure overall facility security standards are maintained.
Build and maintain positive customer relationships through strong operational execution and communication.
Conduct staff meetings and provide performance feedback and development opportunities.
Submit operational and performance reports in a timely manner.
Assign and oversee operational projects within scope of responsibility.
Review operational schedules and product data to establish priorities and workflow sequences.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and Federal, State, and Local regulations.
Prepare operational schedules and coordinate activities to support business objectives.
Conduct quarterly safety training and reinforce safe work practices.
Inspect equipment and review operational reports to resolve operational and maintenance issues.
Ensure compliance with transportation and safety regulations.
Manage the site sanitation program and support audit readiness initiatives.
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations required.
Strong leadership, team development, and employee coaching abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to interpret HR policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.
Strong customer service orientation with a high sense of urgency.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
