Nephrologist (Urgent Required)

Jackson and Coker is seeking a Transplant Nephrologist for a locum tenens opportunity in Michigan, offering immediate and ongoing coverage. This role involves a mix of inpatient transplant unit coverage and outpatient transplant clinic duties. Practice setting: inpatient transplant unit and outpatient clinic

Patient load ranges from 8 to 15 patients

Inpatient service averages 8 to 12 patients per day including consults and primary patients

Transplant center performs 80 to 90 kidney transplants annually

Average rounding hours per day: 6 to 7

Callback to hospital after rounds is rare once patients are stable

Intermittent inpatient transplant APP support for continuity of care

Responsibilities

Provide inpatient transplant unit coverage

Provide outpatient transplant clinic coverage

Round ICU and transplant inpatient unit

Provide inpatient consult coverage

Provide overnight home call coverage

Provide weekend call coverage

Shift & Schedule

• ASAP – Ongoing
• Inpatient transplant unit coverage two weeks per month
• In-house inpatient coverage one week duration
• Outpatient transplant clinic coverage weeks (separate from inpatient week)
• 8-hour daily shift rounding ICU and transplant inpatient unit with additional overtime and weeknight call
• Rounding and inpatient consult coverage typically 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM with pager coverage until 5:00 PM
• Overnight home call coverage 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM for 4–5 days per week during inpatient week
• Weekend call Friday through Sunday
• Inpatient coverage requires 7 consecutive days of rounding (typically Tuesday to Monday, can be modified to Monday through Sunday)
• Clinic coverage shifts are 8-hour days, 4 days per week, no call required

• 3 to 5+ years of experience
• Required Procedures / Skills: Pre and post transplant care
