Operations Manager
Chart Water products and services help provide sanitation and safe drinking water to nearly one billion people worldwide. We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead our plant operations and drive performance
The Operations Manager is responsible for overall plant performance, leading and coordinating manufacturing, quality, production planning, inventory management, and shipping/receiving. This role also partners closely with purchasing, engineering, and sales to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective operations.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Performance will be measured across key metrics including quality, on-time delivery, lead time, labor efficiency, cost, safety, and productivity.
- Foster a strong safety culture through adherence to policies, procedures, and OSHA standards
- Develop and execute short- and long-term operational plans and policies
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and implement corrective actions
- Oversee key manufacturing support programs, including training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, and workforce management
- Plan and manage staffing levels based on production forecasts
- Delegate and guide projects to improve processes, efficiency, and cost effectiveness
- Ensure the effectiveness of the Quality Management System
Promote a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and continuously improving safety performance.
Ensure adherence to standards through structured training programs and audits.
Quality
Partner with Quality Assurance to meet or exceed quality KPIs and adhere to ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
Collaborate with project management to ensure timely delivery of products.
Cost Management
Drive cost improvement initiatives and manage performance against budgeted labor and material targets.
Set clear goals, communicate expectations, and coach employees to achieve performance objectives and career growth.
Combination of office and manufacturing floor responsibilities
- Requires extended periods of standing, as well as desk-based computer work
- Regular movement throughout the facility
Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in manufacturing or fabrication, preferably in a low-volume, high-mix environment
- Proven leadership experience managing both salaried and hourly employees
- Experience with complex equipment assembly and welding (mechanical and electrical understanding preferred)
- Working knowledge of financial principles and cost management
- Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, and reporting tools
