As a member of this dynamic team, the Director, Food Procurement, will lead strategic sourcing and purchasing strategies, ensuring the cost-effective acquisition of food responding to the evolving needs of clients, programs and partner agencies.The Director, Food Procurement, develops and executes procurement strategies; oversees vendor, contract and supply-chain relationships; manages the annual food budget and restricted funding; and uses data to guide purchasing, forecasting and inventory decisions. This position also supports innovative initiatives, including Food is Medicine pilots and Partner Direct, while cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders and food donors.Essential Functions:Procurement Strategy and ExecutionDevelop and execute an annual food procurement strategy aligned with departmental and CAFB annual strategic goals, program needs, and available funding.Create and execute end-to-end procurement plans using distribution trends, client and partner feedback, inventory levels, data and dashboardsEstablish and track key performance indicators, working with the team to adjust strategy as neededSupport evolution of Food Is Medicine pilots through expanded vendor recruitment, creative sourcing and supply chain managementEvaluate grant and programmatic opportunities by conducting cost benefit analysesSupport evolution of donation stream through Partner Direct program, food bank partnerships, Feeding America National Organization (FANO) support and collaboration with the Development teamCollaborate with Operations to determine opportunities to optimize existing space, test pilot opportunities and improve processesDisplay high level of customer service and effective communications to both internal and external audiencesRespond to client and partner level data to inform product selection, within budget parametersWork collaboratively with other divisions of the CAFB, including the Operations team, DC, MD and NOVA Regions, and the Pilot TeamFollow all procurement policies, state and federal regulationsProgram OperationsEvaluate and refine ordering processes to streamline program procurementPartner with Operations to strengthen supply chain workflows, optimize warehouse capacity, test new approaches and cost effectiveness. IIdentify supply chain risks and develop contingency sourcing plans to minimize disruptions and maintain continuity of supply.Vendor Management and Financial OversightDevelop and manage the annual food budget, providing monthly spending analysis, forecasts and recommended adjustmentsReview purchase order payment reports weekly, working closely with Finance to resolve invoice issues.Track annual restricted grants; plan out spending and report progress monthlyEvaluate vendor performance and market competitiveness to ensure optimal value, service, quality and alignment with organizational needs.Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, business administration, agriculture, or related field.7+ years of progressively responsible experience in strategic sourcing, logistics and/or food procurementLeadership/Management experienceExperience managing significant budgets, vendor relationships, contract and procurement activitiesOther Skills, and Abilities:Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work across teams.Strong strategic sourcing, procurement, negotiation and vendor-management skillsInnovative and adaptive thinker who can respond effectively to evolving community, program and operational needsDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);Experience using enterprise procurement, inventory-management, ERP, or warehouse- management systemsAbility to succeed in a diverse, fast paced, and team-oriented environment;High level of ethical behavior and fiscal responsibilityPhysical Demands & Working Conditions:Must be able to remain in a stationary position and operate a computer and other office equipment for extended periods; move within the office and between meeting locations; and occasionally move or transport materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
