Head of Operations, Managed Transportation

This Director of Operations position provides an opportunity to build a successful trucking and transportation operation from its inception. This pivotal position strives to maximize growth and profitability while responsibly managing the resources of the company alongside client expectations and policies. You will develop and implement long and short term strategies to achieve financial and growth targets.

Responsible for supporting the Company strategy, ensuring targets are achieved and business needs are also met.

Plans and budgets financial targets.

Ensures operational excellence across the business.

Supports sales initiatives by partnering with key clients and delivering a high level of client focus to business initiatives.

Contributes as a key member to the sales and development solutions team in winning key strategic accounts.

Develops and implements an operations strategy tailored to our clients that identifies opportunities to improve cost control and margin improvement and will lead to organic growth.

Works collaboratively and establishes solid business relationships with supporting departments including but not limited to: Safety, Recruiting, Sales and Business Development.

A Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or equivalent fields is required

A minimum of 10 years trucking/transportation operations management experience

Strong understanding of fleet and equipment utilization

At least 5 years of dispatch and driver management experience

Proven ability to steer business development projects and initiatives

Background in transportation associated with the oil & gas industry is preferred.

Excellent verbal, written and visual/presentation communication skills.

Experience in a “client-centric" environment with accountability for both operations metrics and client relations.

Direct experience preparing budgets and actively participating in financial reviews with a solid understanding of standard and actual cost variances.
