Lead, Inspire, and Make a Difference Every Day! Are you an experienced early childhood educator who is passionate about helping young children learn, grow, and thrive?

The Port Washington Children’s Center (PWCC) is looking for a dedicated, nurturing, and enthusiastic Lead Early Childhood Teacher to join our Early Childhood Program.

As a Lead Teacher, you will play an important role in creating a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. You will lead your classroom team, build meaningful relationships with children and families, and help create experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.

What You’ll Do

Lead and manage the daily operation of your classroom

Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities and learning experiences

Provide a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment

Support each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development

Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and families

Work collaboratively with Teacher’s Assistants and other members of the teaching team

Provide guidance and support to classroom staff

Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation

Communicate regularly and professionally with families

Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment

Follow all health, safety, and OCFS regulations and requirements

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and center-wide activities

Serve as a positive role model for children and fellow staff members

What We’re Looking For

Experience as a lead teacher in an early childhood or preschool setting

Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices

Familiarity with OCFS regulations and requirements

Strong classroom management and organizational skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A warm, patient, and nurturing personality

Ability to lead and work effectively as part of a classroom team

Dependable, responsible, and professional

A genuine passion for working with young children

Appropriate education and credentials required for the position under applicable OCFS regulations
