Head of Project Management

Position Overview

This position works on-site daily at our Scarborough, Maine location in the Infectious Diseases Division of Abbott Rapid Diagnostics.

The Project Manager will manage one or more projects with low to moderate complexity throughout their entire lifecycle, involving functional teams both domestic and international.

Responsibilities

Accountable for total project scope; ensuring completion within budget constraints and scheduled dates.

Manage the creation of detailed project plans, resources, budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and documentation for stage‑gate reviews.

Recognize broader implications of actions and proposals on the final project outcome.

Lead cross‑functional teams to execute projects using problem‑solving methodology.

Drive teams to meet milestones and deliverables established in project planning and agreed upon with senior leadership.

Prepare and present written and oral reports and other presentations to internal and external audiences, including cross‑functional management.

Clearly define and manage project scope, develop and manage the project charter and plan, and identify key milestones for status reporting.

Lead creation and updates of detailed plans (charter, IPP), schedule, and project documentation in accordance with internal design control requirements and stage‑gate reviews.

Identify tasks, create, and track the project schedule.

Prepare and present project progress reports; under supervision may deliver review presentations to Business Unit leadership.

Perform lead project risk assessment, propose and manage mitigation.

Identify problems and work with a cross‑functional team to resolve them.

Track and present budget variances and recommend contingency options.

Collaborate with representatives from appropriate functional areas across the Division to meet project objectives.

Create a work environment that supports team effectiveness.

Under supervision, assist with the decision‑making process within a cross‑functional team.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree.

Minimum 4 years of project management or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Three or more years of experience in a similar role or environment.

Three or more years of experience in an FDA environment.

The base pay for this position is $78,000.00 – $156,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the posted range.
