The Speech Language Pathologist is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorder management programs. This position is classified as Non-Exempt and reports to the Director of Rehabilitation and the Facility Administrator.

Conducting comprehensive speech-language and swallowing evaluations in accordance with physician orders and California standards of practice

Assessing and diagnosing speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and dysphagia disorders

Developing, implementing, and modifying individualized plans of care with measurable, function-based goals consistent with benefit and reimbursement levels

Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans based on objective findings and clinical response

Leading discharge planning and providing recommendations to support safe transitions of care and community reintegration

Communicating evaluation findings, progress updates, and discharge outcomes to physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA

Current, active, and unrestricted Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of California — required for licensed candidates

Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program — required

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA — required for fully licensed candidates; CF-Y candidates working toward CCC-SLP eligibility are encouraged to apply

Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain per facility policy)

Ongoing compliance with continuing education requirements established by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board

Experience in a skilled nursing, post-acute, hospital, or related medical setting — strongly preferred for licensed candidates; Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and lead by example
