(Remote) Mechanical Engineering

It takes big ideas and determination to take NASA's vision and make it reality. Responsibilities Perform hazardous and non-hazardous fluid operations primarily for spacecraft servicing.
Develop plans, write work authorization documents, lead Task Teams, create software products for the firing room console interaction with hardware, and execute tests and Orion Command Service Module (CSM) processing operations.
Conduct mechanical engineering tasks in support of spacecraft including the Orion Crew Module (CM), Service Module (SM), Orbital Replacement Units (ORUs) for the International Space Station (ISS), and Launch Services Program (LSP) payloads.
Support preparations for assembly, test, processing, and launch of NASA's Launch Services Program spacecraft, ISS processing, and the Orion Crew Module.
Develop an understanding of mechanical fluid systems for ECLSS and concepts of system operations; may include software coding for the Ground Flight Application Software (GFAS) related to launch countdown and ECLSS firing room console displays.
Prepare ground support equipment (GSE) with technicians for mechanical ECLSS fluid systems and other fluid‑related engineering systems in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable pressure vessel safety standards.
Acquire thorough knowledge of flight hardware servicing and mechanical integration.
Develop and apply knowledge of Orion CSM processing operations concepts, ground‑to‑vehicle interfaces, vehicle/ground system design and operation, GFAS, and launch configuration and closeouts.
Engage in spacecraft processing, procedural development, test requirements, system training, and task leader certification.
Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering or a related accredited engineering discipline; Mechanical or aerospace engineering experience in Environmental Control and Life Support Sub‑Systems (ECLSS) spacecraft operations.
Strong mechanical background highly desirable due to mechanical aspects of flight hardware, flight support equipment, and ground support equipment.
Software development and control system knowledge desirable for GFAS monitoring and control of hypergolic system hardware.
Excellent customer interface skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Internet browsers, and Outlook.
Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple projects.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.
Physical Requirements May need to climb stairs for equipment troubleshooting.
Required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other personal protective equipment.
Facility is hazardous; May require travel around different onsite areas.

Attendance and Hours Full‑time work hours with occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on tasks. Shift work may be required.
