Mental Health Nurse - RN - PRN

Unity Psychiatric Care is seeking a compassionate PRN Registered Nurse to join our dedicated Healthcare & Medical Services team, providing high-quality care to adults in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting. As a PRN RN, you will play a vital role in supporting patients experiencing mental health crises, helping them move toward stability and improved well-being while working within a supportive, patient-centered environment.

In this role, you will deliver direct psychiatric nursing care, including comprehensive mental health and physical assessments, ongoing monitoring, and crisis intervention. You will conduct suicide and risk assessments, administer and evaluate the effectiveness of psychiatric and medical medications, and promptly identify changes in patient status. Using therapeutic communication and trauma-informed practices, you will help maintain a safe, structured, and healing milieu for patients with a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses.

You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, therapists, social workers, and mental health technicians to design and implement individualized treatment plans. Your responsibilities will include developing and updating nursing care plans, contributing to treatment team meetings, educating patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and coping strategies, and supporting discharge and aftercare planning to promote continuity of care.

Accurate, timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) is essential, as is adherence to all regulatory standards, hospital policies, and evidence-based practices governing psychiatric and medical care. You will participate in routine and emergent safety procedures, including de-escalation, behavioral emergency response, and the appropriate use of restraints or seclusion according to policy and regulatory standards, always prioritizing dignity and respect.
