The mission of the Department of Justice is to uphold the rule of law, keep our country safe, and protect civil rights. The office is part of a dedicated team that enforces federal criminal and civil laws that protect the life, liberty, and property of citizens.
Assist in representing the United States in trial and appellate courts for a wide variety of federal and state litigation, including bankruptcy, civil rights, commercial, constitutional, employment, environmental, federal program, fraud, immigration, medical malpractice, patent, prisoner, social security, summons enforcement, tax, and general tort cases.
The primary focus will be in the General Litigation Unit of the Civil Division, defending the United States' interests in civil cases and matters involving employment discrimination allegations, tort law, immigration law, the Constitution, the Administrative Procedure Act, and FOIA.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress.
Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. Newport News, VA: 18.80%
