Senior Mechanical Engineering- System Design

Senior Mechanical Engineer - Hardware Engineering Location: Tucson, AZ (Onsite). Security Clearance: U.S. citizens only, Open-Top DoD Secret clearance required prior to start. Minimum qualifications include 5 years of mechanical engineering experience or an advanced degree and 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities Develop innovative technical solutions across the product lifecycle—proposals, advanced development, design, manufacturing, integration, and testing of missiles, launchers, support equipment, and electronics.
Perform mechanical design analyses using engineering fundamentals to verify form, fit, and function for the intended application.
Lead small teams in mechanical hardware design, managing structures, thermal, harness and interconnects, electronics packaging, tooling, and integration.
Support product assembly and integration in factories and suppliers, both domestic and international, to assess requirement compliance.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (operations, supply chain, quality, external suppliers) to resolve technical challenges and develop effective design solutions.
Manage tasks independently, delivering on schedule, budget, and technical goals.
Participate in design reviews and conduct trade studies to support sound engineering decisions.
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, contributing to team development.
Qualifications - Must Have Degree in STEM or related field; advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of mechanical hardware design and analysis experience, or 3+ years with an advanced degree.
Experience creating, reviewing, and interpreting technical documentation for hardware or tooling.
Proficiency in 3D CAD (CREO or equivalent) and configuration/data‑management environment.
Experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, or tooling processes.
Ability to develop and release engineering drawings.
Preferred Qualifications Detail‑oriented with strong teamwork and autonomous work capabilities.
Experience with GD&T, change‑notice processing, and technical data package creation.
Factory support experience for low‑rate and full‑rate production of hardware.
Design, fabrication, or integration of effectors, launchers, harnesses, energetic systems, or electronics packaging.
Working knowledge of industry specifications for technical data packages.
Willingness to travel to suppliers and factories (domestic and international).
Advanced degree in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering, or hardware systems design.
Benefits Salary range: $86,800 - $165,200 USD.
