Golden Ratio is seeking an experienced, thoughtful, and highly engaged Bartender to join our team in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
About Golden Ratio
Golden Ratio is the newest concept from Redwood Hospitality, the Brooklyn restaurant group behind Oxalis, Place des Fêtes, Cafe Mado, and Laurel Bakery. We are building an ambitious cocktail bar centered around original drinks, genuine hospitality, and a more sustainable approach to how ingredients are sourced and used.
Our rotating cocktail list begins with seasonal produce, including ingredients sourced from local farms, greenmarkets, and foragers. Through fermentation, distillation, preservation, and other techniques, these ingredients are transformed into cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks that are expressive, precise, and deeply connected to their source. The beverage program is accompanied by a vegetable-forward food menu designed to make Golden Ratio as compelling for a full evening as it is for a single drink.
Golden Ratio is a single-room cocktail bar with several distinct energy zones: a welcoming lounge, a central bar, intimate banquettes and booths, and a lively standing area. Service requires an awareness of the entire room and the ability to move comfortably between detailed cocktail preparation, polished table service, and a busy, energetic late-night environment.
We aim for the highest level of execution without losing warmth, personality, or accessibility. Our service should be knowledgeable but never performative, attentive without feeling rigid, and genuinely responsive to what each guest is looking for.

The Role
Our Bartenders are responsible for both the technical quality of the beverage program and the hospitality experienced by the guests sitting in front of them. This role requires the ability to execute complex cocktails accurately and efficiently while remaining present, engaged, and attentive throughout service.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in the complete operation of the bar: preparation, organization, cleanliness, communication, consistency, and the experience created across the room. The strongest candidates will bring excellent cocktail fundamentals, curiosity, emotional intelligence, urgency, and a desire to help raise the standards of a growing program.
All members of the service team are trained to work both behind the bar and on the floor. Bartenders should be comfortable rotating between bar and floor shifts, understanding that each position contributes to one shared guest experience.

Responsibilities include:
Preparing and serving cocktails, nonalcoholic drinks, wine, beer, and other beverages with accuracy, speed, and consistency
Executing original and technically involved cocktails according to established recipes, specifications, glassware, garnish, temperature, and presentation standards
Creating warm, sincere, and individualized experiences for guests at the bar and throughout the room
Learning and confidently communicating the ingredients, techniques, and stories behind our cocktail, nonalcoholic, wine, and food programs
Guiding guests through an unfamiliar and evolving menu using thoughtful questions and approachable recommendations
Maintaining awareness of the full bar and anticipating the needs of guests, Servers, fellow Bartenders, and the kitchen
Working efficiently during high-volume service without allowing speed to compromise accuracy, cleanliness, or hospitality
Keeping the bar organized, clean, properly stocked, and prepared before, during, and after service
Completing opening, closing, prep, side work, restocking, and inventory-related responsibilities thoroughly
Handling batching, juicing, garnishing, labeling, storage, and other beverage preparation according to established standards
Following food-safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, and product-handling procedures
Entering orders, managing checks, and handling payments accurately through the POS system
Communicating proactively when tickets, service, product levels, or a guest experience require additional attention
Supporting the floor when needed, including taking orders, running drinks and food, clearing, resetting, and assisting with guest recovery
Receiving feedback openly and contributing to a culture of accountability, education, and continuous improvement
Helping train and support newer team members as your knowledge of the program develops
Contributing ideas and observations that help improve drinks, systems, service, and the overall guest experience

What We’re Looking For
Ideal candidates will have:
At least two years of bartending experience in a cocktail bar, restaurant, or similarly ambitious beverage environment
Strong cocktail fundamentals and a demonstrated ability to execute drinks consistently
Experience working in a high-volume setting while maintaining precision and genuine hospitality
A solid foundation in spirits, classic cocktails, wine, beer, and responsible alcohol service
Interest in natural wine, nonalcoholic beverages, fermentation, seasonality, sustainable sourcing, and ingredient-driven drinks
The ability to learn detailed recipes, preparations, techniques, and menu information
Strong organizational habits and respect for mise en place, labeling, cleanliness, and station maintenance
The ability to explain technical or unfamiliar ideas in language that feels natural and welcoming
Strong situational awareness and the ability to remain composed when service becomes busy
A team-first mentality and willingness to move between bar and floor responsibilities
Confidence paired with humility, curiosity, and openness to coaching
Clear and respectful communication with guests, managers, Bartenders, Servers, and kitchen staff
An understanding that excellence is built through consistency in both highly visible moments and routine daily work
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business
Experience with advanced techniques is valuable, but we are equally interested in discipline, curiosity, hospitality, and a genuine desire to keep learning.
