A $750 sign-on bonus is being offered to eligible new employees hired into PCA position.

Evenings: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM / 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Mandatory weekend shifts every month

Rotating holiday schedule.

Central Resource Team, (CRT) are part of a team that "float" to various departments within Massachusetts General Hospital and provide Patient Care Assistant (PCA) care to either a patient requiring observation or acting as a nursing unit PCA.

The CRT is seeking a PCA, with Night availability, and to provide weekday, weekend and holiday coverage. Must be dedicated to floating, providing unit coverage and patient observation.

Only applicants seeking full-time 36-40 hours permanent employment will be strongly considered for an interview.

Does this position require Patient Care?

Performs patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including, but not limited to, performing and documenting point of care, vital signs, EKGs, bathing and other sanitary needs of patients, transferring and assisting with ambulation of patients, 1:1 patient observation for safety purposes, and phlebotomy. Completes all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

• Assists patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding, as needed.
• Ensures that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate and as patient volumes change.
• Retrieves equipment from other areas, sets up equipment, cleans equipment between patient use, and reports malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
• Facilitates orientation of new PCA team members as directed.
• Interacts with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively
• Communicates with nursing staff effectively and in a timely manner regarding issues related to patient care and condition.
• Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification]

Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification]

Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Strong patient/customer service skills.

Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
