University on University (tentatively named) is an innovative institute for Jewish and civic learning based in Atlanta and a signature initiative of Congregation Shearith Israel (CSI). Rooted in the Jewish tradition of lifelong learning (Talmud Torah), the institute brings together diverse voices to explore the ideas, issues, and experiences that shape our community and our world. Through thought-provoking programs, meaningful dialogue, and creative educational experiences, University on University fosters intellectual curiosity, strengthens community (kehillah), deepens understanding (binah), and inspires Jewish flourishing (sagsug). By creating spaces where people engage with one another across perspectives, the institute serves as a vibrant hub for learning, connection, and civic engagement throughout the greater Atlanta community.

The Program Director will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of University on University's educational and cultural programming, helping bring the institute's vision to life through engaging learning experiences and meaningful community partnerships. Working closely with synagogue leadership and the University's steering committee, the Program Director will develop and implement a dynamic calendar of programs that inspire lifelong Jewish learning, foster intellectual curiosity, and strengthen connections across the Atlanta community.

This role is ideal for a collaborative and entrepreneurial professional who enjoys building relationships, managing projects, and creating exceptional participant experiences. The Program Director will coordinate speakers and educators, cultivate partnerships with local organizations and institutions, oversee program logistics and budgets, support marketing and outreach efforts, and evaluate program success to ensure University on University continues to grow its reach and impact.

Develop and manage the annual program calendar.

Identify, recruit, and coordinate scholars, educators, speakers, and facilitators for educational and cultural programming.

Community Engagement

Develop and maintain relationships with synagogues, universities, cultural organizations, and community partners to support collaborative programming.

Identify opportunities for collaborative programming.

Represent University on University at community events as appropriate.

Operations & Administration

Coordinate with CSI staff on marketing, facilities, and event logistics.

Support reporting and planning activities.

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Jewish studies, education, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.

Experience developing and executing educational, cultural, or community engagement programs, including managing program calendars, logistics, and participant experiences.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build authentic relationships with diverse individuals and communities.

Experience working with educators, speakers, community partners, or volunteer leaders preferred.

Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge of and enthusiasm for Jewish learning, culture, and community engagement, with the ability to create meaningful experiences for participants with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and levels of Jewish knowledge within a pluralistic Jewish setting.
