Phlebotomy TechnicianPay Range: $22.24hr - $24.00hrRequirement/Must Have:Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Ability to float to various locations as required.Responsibilities:Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination.Update patient information accurately.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Fully understand all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature and appropriate collection containers.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Skills:Phlebotomy.Venipuncture.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Data Entry.Microsoft Office Suite.OSHA Compliance.Qualification And Education:Valid Phlebotomy certification.High School Diploma or GED.
