Human Resources Generalist - Part Time

Position Overview This HR Specialist in Classification is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the full range of position classification and position management advisory services.

Qualifications At least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS‑11) or equivalent, as defined by OPM Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions (0201 Series).

Time‑in‑Grade (TIG) requirements: one year at GS‑11 is required to meet the TIG for the GS‑12 level.

Applicants who are current or former GS civil‑service employees within the past 52 weeks must also satisfy applicable TIG requirements.

Experience in providing timely and effective civilian position classification and position management advisory services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of federal classification and position management principles, practices, and related HR disciplines.

Strong research and analytical skills to assess complex position management issues and make sound decisions.

Ability to maintain effective relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, and coworkers to resolve problems cooperatively.

Strong written and verbal communication skills for producing reports, briefings, and facilitating understanding of findings.

Professional, tactful, and diplomatic demeanor to ensure harmonious relations and effective conflict resolution.

Proficiency with software for creating documents, editing electronic drafts, and managing databases or spreadsheets.

Part‑Time, Unpaid, and Volunteer Experience Credit may be given for part‑time, unpaid, or volunteer work. Applicants should clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and state the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer experience in national service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) or other organizations (professional, philanthropic, religious, community) that builds critical competencies is also eligible for credit.
