Position Summary

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily construction site operations while ensuring full compliance with safety regulations, project schedules, and Department of Buildings (DOB) requirements. This role serves as the on-site leader for safety, compliance, communication, and project coordination, ensuring every project remains safe, efficient, and fully operational from start to completion.

At MoD Safety Consultants, superintendents play a critical role in maintaining a “Safety First” culture by conducting daily inspections, managing documentation, supporting DOB inspections, and providing direct communication to clients, contractors, and internal leadership. MoD's core specialty is providing licensed construction superintendents who are fluent in DOB protocols and focused on safe, compliant, and efficient job site execution.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Operations

Oversee daily job site operations for active construction projects

Conduct daily site walkthroughs and inspections to ensure compliance and productivity

Monitor subcontractors, vendors, and field teams for safety and performance standards

Maintain site readiness and operational efficiency throughout all project phases

Coordinate with project managers, ownership groups, and general contractors on daily progress

Safety Compliance

Enforce OSHA, NYC DOB, and site-specific safety regulations

Ensure all workers maintain proper certifications including OSHA/SST requirements

Identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and compliance risks and take immediate corrective action

Support implementation of site-specific safety plans and safety protocols

Help prevent violations, stop-work orders, and DOB fines through proactive monitoring

Documentation & Reporting

Complete and maintain daily log sheets required by the Department of Buildings

Ensure all required permits, postings, and site documentation remain current and visible

Track incidents, inspections, violations, and corrective actions

Submit accurate reports to leadership and clients regarding site progress and concerns

Maintain organized records for audits, inspections, and compliance reviews

Client & Agency Representation

Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients and stakeholders

Provide consistent project updates and communicate site developments proactively

Represent the job site during DOB inspections and remain on-site throughout inspections

Coordinate responses to compliance findings and required corrective actions

Maintain professional relationships with inspectors, contractors, and ownership teams

Qualifications

Required

• Licensed Construction Superintendent (NYC preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of NYC DOB regulations and protocols
• SST card and additional site safety certifications preferred
• 3+ years of construction site supervision experience
• Strong leadership, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple active job sites if required
• Reliable transportation and flexibility for site-based work across NYC boroughs

Preferred

Experience in high-rise, commercial, or major renovation projects

Prior experience working with site safety consulting firms

Knowledge of permit management and DOB filing systems
