ASL Educational Interpreter - Licensed
CBS Therapy is currently seeking an ASL Educational Interpreter for a school-based placement for the upcoming 2026-27 school year!
Successful candidates will have:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Valid State of Tennessee School Educational Interpreter License
Job-related experience within the specialized field
Strong proficiency in manual communication skills (ASL and Signed English) and knowledge of Deaf Culture
Responsibilities of the Educational Interpreter
Facilitate communication between deaf and/or hard-of-hearing individuals and others by using sign language to convey teacher instruction and intent.
Assist deaf and hard-of-hearing students in both academic and nonacademic activities, including classroom instruction, tests, recess, and special events.
Implement instructional and behavioral programs under the supervision of an assigned teacher to promote student success.
Interpret at various meetings as requested, including IEPs and individual parent-teacher conferences.
Prepare for daily classroom lectures and activities ahead of time to ensure a clear understanding and precise interpretation.
