AECOM's broad technical capabilities, global footprint and experience in executing large scale projects uniquely position us to lead in traditional steam, thermal power generation and advanced nuclear technologies. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.It is an excellent career opportunity for an engineer with a strong technical background and looking to grow into a project technical leadership role.Development of mechanical equipment and piping material specificationsProduce calculations to inform design such as hydraulic modeling, pipe stress calculations, tank and pump sizingCoordination with mechanical design team to direct completion of engineering drawings.Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&ID’s, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etc.Attend client meetings and/or site field visitsPerforms both routine and non-routine, complex design assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.Maintain open communication with project team and supervisor regarding workload planning, task estimating and budgetingPrepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations.Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractorsPreparation of project specification and contract documentsAbility to check and verify work prepared by peer/groupApplies strong knowledge of industry standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working in with US mechanical and industrial infrastructureEnsure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design workQualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering4 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering for industrial or power generation projectsEIT Certification with the ability to license as a PE within 1 year.Preferred Qualifications:Professional Engineering licensure6+ years of experience preferred2+ yrs experience as project technical mechanical leadDemonstrated experience with specifying mechanical equipment (e.g. rotating equipment, tanks, pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchanges)Familiarity with diverse metallurgyDemonstrated experience with engineering software packages: Caesar II, Pipe-Flo (or other hydraulic modeling application), AspenTech applications and/or Applied Flow Technology applicationsExperience with nuclear power generation and thermal power generationExperience executing work in 3D model environments and collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, ACC)Experience with AutoCAD Plant3D Smart P&ID’sStrong knowledge of piping specifications and pipe stress analysisStrong experience leveraging laser scan or other data sets to inform design developmentKnowledge of typical stakeholders and be able to anticipate data requests and expectationsDemonstrated experience in participating complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and CAD teamsComprehensive knowledge of industry (incl safety) standards (e.g. API, ASME)Additional InformationRelocation assistance is not available for this position.To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.Depending on your employment status, AECOM benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, disability benefits, paid time off, leaves of absences, voluntary benefits, perks, flexible work options, well-being resources, employee assistance program, business travel insurance, service recognition awards, retirement savings plan, and employee stock purchase plan.
