Description:
This role focuses on providing care for patients with various solid tumor cancers.
The care covers all stages of the cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment.
Support will also be provided for patients transitioning to end-of-life care.
There is a heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention.
Staffing ratios aim for 1:4 but may extend to 1:5 based on needs.
Candidates must be willing to float to other Medical/Surgical Oncology units as required.
Experience in administering chemotherapy and managing ports is preferred but not mandatory.
The patient demographic includes adults and geriatric patients.
Common patient diagnoses include breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers.
Special equipment includes telemetry monitoring systems and various supportive devices.
Candidates must have acute care experience that is current and consistent within the last 12 months.
This position may involve variable weekend shifts based on unit needs.
A strong focus on teamwork and interdisciplinary support is essential.
Candidates should possess the ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage IV lines effectively.
