Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and independent Risk Manager to lead market and investment risk across our event-driven, special situations platform. This is a standalone role—you will be solely responsible for all aspects of risk management across multiple portfolio teams.
Key Responsibilities
Firmwide Risk Oversight: Calibrate, manage, and enforce risk guidelines across multiple portfolio teams, aligning risk frameworks with our event-driven strategy.
Trade-Level Analysis: Perform detailed risk analysis for both new and existing positions; assess risk at the trade, position, and portfolio level in real time.
Scenario Analysis: Construct and maintain robust event risk scenarios tailored to our strategy and current market environment.
Risk Dialogue with PMs: Engage in regular discussions with portfolio managers to analyze portfolio risk, address discrepancies in measured risk, and proactively manage exposure that falls outside of policy.
Performance Attribution: Perform detailed P&L explanation and decomposition, both on an intraday and historical basis, to support performance reviews and strategic decisions.
Portfolio Construction Support: Provide input on portfolio guidelines, risk budgeting, and allocations to support sound portfolio construction decisions.
Communication & Reporting: Clearly communicate risk assessments, exposures, and recommendations through presentations and face-to-face meetings with PMs and senior management.
Executive Reporting: Present aggregate risk and exposure across the firm in a coherent and actionable format to senior leadership.
Ongoing Monitoring: Maintain a detailed view of the evolving risk environment, including market developments and firm-specific vulnerabilities.
Innovation & Research: Conduct research on improving risk policy, allocation methodologies, and analytics tailored to the firm’s investment approach.
Tooling & Infrastructure: Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical tools used by risk and portfolio teams (familiarity with Python, SQL, or similar is a plus).
