We are expanding our underwriting team and seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to support a high-end, purchase-focused platform that serves discerning clients and complex transactions. This role is ideal for underwriters who value thoughtful credit analysis, judgment-based decisioning, and collaboration within a premium real estate environment.

This is not a high-volume, assembly-line underwriting role. As an Elliman Capital underwriter, you support transactions tied directly to Douglas Elliman’s elite agents, luxury properties, and high-net-worth clientele.

You will work within a modern lending platform that supports both Non-QM and agency products , designed to handle complexity without sacrificing efficiency.

Underwrite Non-QM loan products , including DSCR, bank statement, and alternative income programs

Underwrite Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA residential mortgage loans

Analyze borrower creditworthiness, income documentation, assets, liabilities, and complex financial profiles

Review property characteristics, appraisals, and collateral risk

Ensure all loans meet investor guidelines, internal credit standards, and regulatory requirements

Respond to product questions and scenario requests with sound credit guidance

Maintain quality, accuracy, and turnaround time standards

Assist with training and mentoring junior underwriters as needed

Stay current on guideline updates, investor overlays, and regulatory changes

Five or more years of recent mortgage underwriting experience

Demonstrated experience underwriting Non-QM loans , including DSCR and bank statement programs

Solid understanding of federal and state mortgage regulations, including TILA, RESPA, and Fair Lending
