Radiographer - Radiology - Nights

About the Role The Radiology Technologist provides high‑quality intraoperative fluoroscopic imaging in a urology‑focused ambulatory surgery center. This role supports surgeons during minimally invasive urologic procedures using C‑arm fluoroscopy and ensures optimal imaging while maintaining strict radiation safety standards. In addition, this position serves as the facility’s Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the radiation safety program in compliance with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Bureau of X‑Ray Compliance, federal regulations, and accrediting body standards.

What You’ll Be Doing Clinical Imaging (C‑Arm) Duties Operate C‑arm fluoroscopy equipment during urologic surgical procedures, including but not limited to: Ureteroscopy and stone management, Ureteral stent placement/exchange, Retrograde pyelograms, Cystoscopic procedures requiring fluoroscopic guidance.

Prepare, position, and protect patients to obtain optimal images while ensuring comfort and safety.

Collaborate closely with urologists and OR staff to provide real‑time imaging guidance.

Apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.

Maintain sterile field awareness and adhere to operating room protocols.

Document imaging procedures and radiation use in the medical record as required.

Describe knowledge of imaging equipment connectivity with intraoperative PACS and RIS, troubleshoot device connection with imaging equipment.

Perform equipment checks and coordinate service for imaging equipment as needed.

Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Duties Serve as the designated Radiation Safety Officer for the facility.

Develop, implement, and maintain the radiation safety program in accordance with NJDEP Bureau of X‑Ray Compliance regulations (NJAC 7:28), OSHA standards, and applicable accreditation standards (AAAHC, etc.).

Maintain facility radiation registration and ensure compliance with all New Jersey state requirements.

Oversee personnel dosimetry program: distribute, collect, and review dosimeter badges; maintain exposure records; investigate and document exposure variances.

Conduct radiation safety training for clinical staff.

Ensure appropriate shielding, signage, and safe work practices are in place.

Coordinate required physicist surveys, equipment performance evaluations, and regulatory inspections.

Maintain radiation safety policies, procedures, and documentation.

Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections or audits.

What We Expect from You Required Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

ARRT (R) certification in Radiography.

Active New Jersey Radiologic Technologist License.

Demonstrated experience operating C‑arm fluoroscopy in surgical settings.

Knowledge of radiation physics, fluoroscopy, and radiation protection.

Ability to work effectively in a sterile operating room environment.

Computer skills including email, Microsoft applications, and the ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record System, RIS, and PACS Systems.

BLS certification.

Preferred Experience in urology or genitourinary procedures.

Prior experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC).

Previous service as a Radiation Safety Officer or completion of formal RSO training.

Experience supporting lithotripsy or advanced stone procedures.

Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer skills to perform this job successfully, with thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out‑of‑the‑area and overnight travel may be expected.

Compensation Salary Range: $31.00 – $44.00 per hour. The compensation range listed reflects the anticipated base pay for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, education, skills, and work location.
