Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,240–$1,378

Schedule: 5 shifts per week

Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts

Application Requirement: Completion of an inpatient coding assessment may be required during the application process

Inpatient Facility Coder Job Requirements
At least 1 year of inpatient facility coding experience; extensive experience in an academic medical center or Level I Trauma Center environment is strongly preferred

Strong proficiency with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding

Demonstrated ability to code complex inpatient medical and surgical encounters independently

Experience with high-acuity cases such as organ transplants, cardiac surgery, complex vascular procedures, intensive care, high-risk obstetrics, and newborn encounters

Working knowledge of MS-DRG methodology, CC/MCC capture, UHDDS definitions, and official inpatient coding guidelines

CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification is preferred

Experience with Epic and computer-assisted coding systems is preferred

Inpatient Medical Coder Responsibilities
Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for complex inpatient encounters

Review and code high-acuity medical and surgical records, including transplant, open-heart, complex cardiac, aortic, vascular, intensive care, high-risk obstetric, and newborn cases

Apply official coding guidelines, UHDDS definitions, and applicable regulatory requirements

Maintain consistent coding quality, productivity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance
