Cleaning/ Janitorial Maintenance

The position is responsible for maintaining clean and orderly facilities for students, faculty, staff and visitors. As part of a self‑directed team, the position will take initiative to schedule cleaning and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

Perform basic cleaning, sanitization and trash collection in and around residence halls and university buildings

Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies

Notify occupants of cleaning and floor maintenance schedules

Maintain clean and clear walkways, ensuring they are free of debris, litter, snow and ice

Respond to emergencies and assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service

Ensure that assigned rooms and buildings are opened and locked as scheduled

Experience operating industrial high‑speed cleaning equipment; performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment; and explaining the use and maintenance of custodial equipment

Expressed interest in learning and acquiring skills related to custodial services

Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university‑owned vehicles

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Climb ladders, bend and stoop

Lift, carry or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds

Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday

Work in inclement weather conditions

Qualifications
