Associate Attorney – Civil Litigation DefenseA national litigation defense firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing Kansas City practice. This opportunity is well suited for a civil litigator who wants substantive responsibility, hands-on litigation experience, and the opportunity to develop within a national defense platform. The attorney will manage an active caseload while working closely with experienced partners on matters throughout Missouri, Kansas, and beyond.The firm is seeking candidates with civil litigation defense experience, with particular interest in attorneys who have exposure to:Insurance DefenseInsurance CoverageConstruction LitigationGeneral Civil LitigationComplex Liability MattersResponsibilities include managing multiple active litigation matters, drafting pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and dispositive motions, drafting and responding to written discovery, conducting legal research and case analysis, preparing for and taking depositions of parties and experts, reviewing client documents and preparing case evaluations and status reports, participating in mediations and court appearances, and working directly with partners on case strategy and litigation management.Qualifications include 2+ years of civil litigation defense experience, Missouri and Kansas Bar admission required, knowledge of state and federal court procedures, strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, deposition and discovery experience, ability to independently manage multiple matters and competing deadlines, strong organization, attention to detail, and professional communication skills. Additional state admissions, insurance coverage experience, and construction litigation experience are considered valuable.Why consider this opportunity?
