Remote Position Human Resources Generalist (Immediate)

Academic Staff Employment Type:Regular Job Profile:HR Generalist Job Summary: The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) has an opening for an HR Generalist. DoIT is an exciting and dynamic work environment grounded in organizational principles that include family and personal life/work balance; The division provides core IT infrastructure services to the university, develops and implements services for the university and in some cases, for the Universities of Wisconsin, and plays a major role in managing the state-wide higher education network and regional networks.
This HR Generalist position within the Division of Information Technology will work within a hybrid team environment to support human resources administration, workforce relations and medical leave administration, employee training compliance, reporting and analysis, and other related responsibilities.
Under the supervision of the Associate HR Director, this position will primarily focus on human resources administration responsibilities, processing and management of administrative workflows and associated record keeping, interpreting, applying, and maintaining policies and procedures, running and auditing reports and managing related outreach, managing team service accounts, serving as a medical leave representative, supporting on- and offboarding activities, and more.
This role operates in a primarily independent, hybrid environment with regular virtual team interaction and limited in-person interaction. The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved flexible work arrangement (FWA), which is reviewed and approved annually. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university-provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.
Supports assigned areas of a divisional human resources office, which may include a combination of the following: workforce relations, performance management, time and absence, compliance, and/or general HR administration

  • Executes and audits work transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipated deadlines
  • Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of work unit Human Resources policies and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations
  • Provides consultation, performs analytics, and/or maintains personnel files, communications, and materials for work unit through various mediums
  • Represents unit/program at institutional workshops, informational meetings, and training sessions

DoIT Human Resources is a model for human resources excellence and leadership. We seek to innovate, build collaborative work relationships, focus on customer-centered service, and commit to continuous improvement. Well-qualified applicants may expect to earn between $60,000 - $70,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications, and subject to equity review and approval.

Demonstrated application of human resources principles and practices through documented coursework, training, internships, or professional experience
Experience managing high-volume administrative work while maintaining documented accuracy standards and independently completing work with minimal supervision
Demonstrated experience organizing, planning and establishing priorities in varied and complex tasks, including use of tools or systems to track and adjust priorities
Experience working within an HRIS system such as Workday, including tasks such as workflow initiation, effectively managing tasks, identifying, running and analyzing reports, and data auditing
Demonstrated proficiency utilizing Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint for document creation, data analysis, basic formulas (e.g., Professional experience in a human resources office with a focus on team support and cross-functional collaboration
Experience interpreting, applying, and communicating complex policies and/or procedures in a way that supports compliance and understanding
Experience administering FMLA regulations and leave practices, and experience effectively managing timelines and employer obligations related to medical leave
