Paralegals - REMOTE

New Mexico Legal Aid (NMLA) provides civil legal services to low-income New Mexicans to promote family and economic stability, helping clients access food, shelter, security, and to preserve their unique cultural heritages. The Paralegal will provide litigation and administrative support to attorneys serving low-income clients across a range of civil legal matters. This role supports work in areas such as housing, domestic violence, consumer protection, family law, public benefits, and other areas of law based on community need and program priorities.

The Paralegal plays a key role in supporting client services by assisting with case development, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure cases move forward efficiently. This position is located in our Santa Fe office and reports to the Northern Managing Attorney and will work closely with the Litigation Director.

The Paralegal will provide services through a combination of client support, case coordination, and administrative assistance. Draft legal documents, correspondence, and other written materials.

Coordinate referrals to community resources and partner organizations as appropriate.

Assist with data collection and reporting requirements.

Support outreach efforts and community education activities.

This role requires flexibility and adaptability, as priorities and case needs may shift based on client demand. The Paralegal is an integral part of the legal team and contributes directly to improving access to justice for low-income New Mexicans.

Paralegal experience preferred; exceptional entry-level candidates will be considered.

Ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, staff, and community partners.

Proficiency with computer technology, including Microsoft Office, shared online workspaces, and remote communication tools.

Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Experience working at a civil legal services or nonprofit environment.

Proficiency in Spanish.

Pay is determined by years of experience and set by a union scale; NMLA provides comprehensive benefits, holiday and leave packages. 100% employer‑paid BCBS medical, plus dental and vision for employees; 3 weeks vacation time, 6 days personal time, plus sick pay and federal holidays off
