Position Summary This position provides direct professional nursing care to patients through the implementation of the treatment plan. Initiates nursing standards, implements physical & psychological patient care, & evaluates responses to the care as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrates a knowledge base necessary to care for adolescents through geriatric patients in the psychiatric care setting.
Develops a treatment plan appropriate for the patient based on the nursing assessment, incorporating the family in the plan, and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. and documents progress or lack of progress.
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize patient care based on assessed needs and staff competencies.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual nursing judgments and actions.
Demonstrates ability to assess the patient for risk of aggressive/escalating behavior.
Engages patient who are at risk and applies alternatives to physical intervention by using verbal techniques to de‑escalate.
Administers medication in accordance with standards and policy.

Demonstrates knowledge of and participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement.
Identifies processes in the system and the therapeutic community that can be improved and provides this input to the appropriate individual.
Attends treatment care conferences to assist with the discussion and planning of patient care.
Supports the philosophy of patient and family centered care, recognizing the individual needs of the family. Supports family involvement in the care of the patient and supports family presence.
Identifies issues of customer service and acts to resolve issues within available options. CARING PRACTICES Strives to meet and anticipate customer needs.

FACILITATOR of LEARNING Utilizes educational strategies including collaboration with hospital and community resources that are based on the needs of the patient and family.
Begins the discharge process upon admission and accurately documents all teaching and discharge instructions on the appropriate form in a timely manner.
Evaluates the need for patient/family education based on the nursing assessment and treatment plan.
Involves the patient and/or family in creating a safer patient care delivery process by encouraging them to ask questions about medications, progress toward treatment goals and outpatient follow‑up.
Position Qualifications Registered Nurse with licensure in the State of Ohio. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Certification of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the American Nurse Association Credentialing Center (preferred)
Demonstrates the knowledge and skillsnecessary to provide age‑specific and developmentally appropriate care for thespectrum of populations admitted to LCOH.
Physical Requirements To effectively care for patients, candidates must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, and be able to stand or walk about 90% of a work shift. All candidates extended conditional offer of employment will be subject to will conduct a WebCheck (BCI & FBI Fingerprinting). Fingerprints will be submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The reports from these agencies will include criminal record information. Lindner Center of HOPE will follow the requirements for employment based on the State of Ohio Administrative Code 5122-30-31, and any other regulatory requirements regarding criminal background checks.
