In-Person ASL Interpreter

Position Classification: PRN (As-Needed / On-call)

ASL Interpreter POSITION SUMMARY

This position is classified as PRN (Pro Re Nata), meaning as-needed and assignment-based. Assignments are scheduled based on client demand and interpreter availability.

A Sign Language Interpreter is responsible for facilitating interpretation sessions in a professional, focused manner and utilizing the necessary resources to provide accurate and complete interpretation. Interpreters must possess and maintain a high level of skill, proficiency, and professionalism in interpreting. Provide interpreting services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing customers in a variety of settings at local on-site locations
Demonstrate fluent, idiomatic Sign Language in a variety of modes and registers, including but not limited to visual ASL, PSE, CASE, SEE, tactile sign, pro-tactile sign
Demonstrate fluent, idiomatic spoken English skills in a variety of registers/span
Work effectively with minimal supervision
Demonstrate full compliance with LAMP standards and policies, and the Code of Ethics
Willing to provide complete Immunization Records
Formal interpreter training (ITP)
Experience in relevant areas other than interpretation (e.g. healthcare, legal) is a plus
The hiring process will include written and audio language assessments
