Weekend Naturalist

Naturalists perform interpretive duties, work with volunteers, and lead related program work at Winkler Botanical Preserve.

Pay Rate: $15.75 per hour
Major Duties/Specific Tasks

Lead the presentation of programs for school and public groups.
Assist with preparation of exhibits and other interpretive materials.
Assist with preparation programs for school and public groups.
Assist with social media posts and photography.
Work with volunteers.
Perform other related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications

• At least two years of high school education in some natural resource field.
• 1 year of college preferred.
• General knowledge of biology and ecology.
• At least a basic knowledge of flora and fauna of Northern Virginia.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and staff members.
• Ability to teach and engage children in learning.
• Availability to work additional hours during peak operating times, holidays, nights and weekends.
• Certification or ability to obtain certification in CPR and first aid and AED.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
• Required to purchase and wear standard uniform.
