Must-Have:
- Minimum of 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
Description:
Candidates must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience.
Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience in a similarly sized facility.
General Medical and surgical units provide care for a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease.
Care includes management of gastrointestinal issues, infections, and neurological issues.
Patient care may involve those with mental health disorders, and patients may undergo various procedures.
General job duties include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication.
Record keeping utilizes an electronic health record system, and equipment includes IV pumps and telemetry monitoring.
Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6.
Dress code is Caribbean blue scrubs.
Candidates will float to other medical units as needed.
Supplemental staff will complete a general hospital orientation followed by nursing orientation and EPIC training.
