Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 7 pm - 7 am Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Indiana RN license (or compact as of 7/1/20) required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of experience at a facility with 600 or more beds. Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a centralized registry float position in the Medical Surgical unit. The shifts are 12 hours overnight, providing care to a diverse population of patients with various diagnoses. Experience with chronic illnesses, such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease, is required. Candidates should be familiar with managing gastrointestinal issues, infections, and neurological problems. Nurses will care for patients undergoing procedures like colonoscopies, thoracentesis, and minor surgeries. General medical-surgical nursing care is necessary, including assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of electronic health records, IV management, and wound care is essential. Equipment used includes electronic records systems, medication dispensing systems, and monitoring devices. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. Candidates should be prepared to float to other medical units based on the needs of the facility. Successful candidates will complete supplemental training and orientation that includes both hospital and nursing orientation. Dress code includes Caribbean Blue scrubs.
