Student Trainee (Paralegal)

Pay is $22 per hour for full-time. Part-time position is $21 per hour.

You will be helping attorneys all over Texas set up new businesses for their clients. We help draft, file, and retrieve legal documents such as company formation certificates for them.

Working in our office on-site, you'll be trained in creating and handling legal documents with Mac FileMaker Pro and MS Word as well as in liaison work with state agencies.

You'll receive training based on detailed orientation guides, starting with the basics and moving up at your own pace. Though Lawyer's Aid Service works for attorneys, we are not a placement firm or law firm. Helping law firm folks who contact us

Your schedule will need to include all or nearly all hours during 12:30 to 5:30 Monday through Friday, 22-40 hours total.

Of the one-third who are part-time, most are students, and some go on to law school. Our workplace is a ground floor of eight offices with large windows. You'll be sharing an office with only 1-2 other people, but our staff moves between offices throughout the day, dependent upon tasks. We follow pandemic procedures when there’s a Covid alert. An associated law office is six blocks away in West Campus.

We are looking for a bright person who is glad to pitch in and assist where needed, is adept with people and details, and has excellent spoken and written English. Academic achievements (grades, test scores, honors), writing ability and interest, and work achievements are important to us. This job is on-site.
