Special Education Teacher - STRIVE - Lincoln Street K-5 Elementary Schools

General Description: The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek‑12 district, is seeking a skilled and creative special education teacher to work as the lead teacher in the STRIVE Program at Lincoln K-5 Elementary School. The STRIVE Program is a specialized program with a low student‑to‑teacher ratio for students with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who require intensive programming and support. Instruction is focused on activities of daily living, functional academics, community experiences, independence, vocational skills, recreation and leisure skills, social skills and communication. Students are provided with ongoing opportunities for meaningful inclusion with the support of program staff. Within this developmental model, the instructional strategies of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) are utilized throughout the school day.

Administer diagnostic testing and assessments as needed for caseload students

Collect data to monitor progress toward goals

Plan for creative inclusionary experiences within the high school and broader community

Bachelor’s degree in special education; Massachusetts licensure in Moderate or Severe Disabilities

Experience in public school setting

Experience working with and teaching adolescents with developmental disabilities

Knowledge and training in ABA

Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI)
