Experience Levels & Responsibilities Junior (1-3 years) Basic understanding of mortgage loan documents and terminology
Assist in verifying borrower information and income documentation
Help coordinate with underwriters and loan officers
Maintain accurate records and update loan tracking systems
Follow established processing procedures and compliance requirements
Communicate with applicants for missing documentation
Mid (3-5 years) Process complete loan files from application to closing
Review and verify all income, asset, and credit documentation
Identify potential issues and resolve discrepancies proactively
Work directly with underwriters to clear conditions efficiently
Ensure compliance with federal and state lending regulations
Manage multiple loan files simultaneously with attention to detail
Coordinate with title companies, appraisers, and other third parties
Senior (5-7 years) Lead complex loan processing operations and mentor junior processors
Handle high-value and specialized loan products (jumbo, investment properties)
Maintain expert knowledge of all loan programs and compliance regulations
Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors
Act as liaison between loan officers, underwriters, and management
Review and audit loan files for quality assurance
Train team members on regulatory changes and best practices
Manage escalated issues and ensure timely loan closings
