Job Summary
The Paralegal is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Legal & Compliance department across a broad scope of matters including contracts and vendor agreements, regulatory and licensing compliance, employment/HR legal issues, permits, liens and litigation. This role ensures the legal team operates efficiently by maintaining organized records, conducting research, and coordinating with internal teams and outside counsel.

This position will assist in upholding the Company's legal and regulatory obligations while supporting a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and maintain contracts, vendor agreements, and service agreements, and track lifecycle milestones, renewal deadlines, and key obligations.

Organize and maintain the contract management database and all legal department files and records.

Assist with monitoring federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to emergency services operations (ex: licensing, permits, etc)

Support compliance audits, policy reviews, and regulatory filings, and maintain compliance calendars to track required submission deadlines.

Assist with employment-related legal matters including reviewing HR policies, responding to agency charges, and supporting internal investigations.

Assist with litigation support including discovery processes, document collection, review, and production.

Prepare and organize exhibits, pleadings, and correspondence, and coordinate with outside counsel on litigation deadlines and case status.

Conduct legal research and summarize findings for reviewing attorneys.

Manage and assist with the filing and removing of property liens.

Assist with drafting internal legal memos, reports, and presentations.

Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, filing, and correspondence in support of the Legal & Compliance team.

Measures of Success

Accurate and timely maintenance of contracts, licensing and compliance records, and legal files.

Consistent support of regulatory filing deadlines and compliance calendar obligations.

Effective coordination with outside counsel and internal stakeholders.

Timely and thorough assistance with litigation and HR legal matters.

Contribution to an organized, efficient, and well-documented legal department.
