MRO Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator / Materials Buyer

$70,000 - $80,000 + Discretionary Bonus

An MRO Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator / Materials Buyer is required for a full-time, site-based purchasing role supporting a busy mechanical shop environment in Northwest Houston. This position is suited to a buyer with experience across MRO, indirect consumables, raw materials, tooling, hardware, pipe, fittings, gaskets, seals or similar industrial commodities.

The MRO Buyer will join a fast-paced operation where shop schedules, emergency purchasing, supplier follow-up and urgent material availability are critical. The role needs someone organised, resilient and comfortable working through manual processes, changing priorities and high-pressure requests from production, engineering, quality and suppliers.

MRO Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator / Materials Buyer Role: Source, quote, negotiate and place purchase orders for MRO, emergency job requirements and shop support commodities.

Purchase indirect tooling, cutters, consumables, hardware, raw materials, seals, O-rings, pipe, fittings, flanges, gaskets and similar industrial items.

Support shop turnaround schedules by managing urgent and emergency purchasing requirements, including occasional weekend needs.

Track shipments, confirm supplier promise dates and expedite open orders to support production schedules.

Attend shop production and open-order meetings, coordinating purchasing actions with buyers, project managers, engineering and quality teams.

Help implement supplier programmes for consumables, VIM hardware, automated vending, machine tooling and safety supplies.

Support supplier development, supplier evaluation and local supply-chain improvement to reduce lead times.

Maintain purchasing and delivery information in JobBOSS, support inventory validation and assist with yearly calibration orders.

MRO Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator / Materials Buyer Requirements: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing, materials management, planning or a similar industrial buying role.

Experience buying MRO, consumables, raw materials, tooling, hardware, pipe, fittings, gaskets, O-rings or related mechanical shop items.

Background in oil and gas, rotating equipment, manufacturing, machining, fabrication, highly regulated engineering or similar mechanical environments.

Ability to read and understand Bills of Materials, specifications, technical drawings, CAD drawings or mechanical documentation.

Experience working with MRP, ERP or purchasing systems; JobBOSS experience is advantageous but not essential.

Strong Excel, Word, organisational, communication and supplier-management skills.

Able to work full-time on site in Northwest Houston and manage a high-volume, high-pressure purchasing workload.

Valid driver’s license, legal right to work in the US and ability to pass pre-employment checks.
